A Book That
Changed
My Life

Join us in a celebration of literacy and language
Saturday, May 9th - 7:00pm

Every spring, Literacy Works host our annual fundraising event A Book That Changed My Life, a celebration of all that literacy and language brings us. During the event, invited speakers will tell a 5-6 minute story about a book that changed their life. They choose the book. Some are funny, sad, heartfelt, or a combination of all three.

Keep an eye out for more announcements coming soon on who will be sharing their stories this year!

All funds raised will go to support Literacy Works’ mission and values.

We also take this coming together as a chance highlight volunteers and organizations making a difference, as well as the work of our Community Literacy and Clear Language Lab programs. We invite you to follow along through email and on our social media as we tell our story.

Would you like to be part of an event that brings people together around a shared purpose?

Don't Forget!

When you grab your ticket to A Book That Changed My Life, don’t miss the chance to add on our “Literacy is a Human Right” tote bags and raffle tickets! This year’s raffle has been made possible by the generosity of so many organizations: Elana Chicago, Sketchbook Brewing, Zanies Comedy Club, Lou Malnati’s, the Chicago White Sox, the Morton Arboretum, the Court Theatre the Field Museum, Flyover Chicago, Flyover Chicago, and UChicago Presents.

That’s tickets to events, games, educational opportunities, and more! We thank all the organizations for their generous support of all things literacy and language.

So make your night even more meaningful (and a little more fun). Add a tote, take a chance, and be part of something bigger.

Tickets and bags will be available at the door. All proceeds raised will go to support our mission and programs.
