Literacy Works, a Chicago-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is offering a summer internship to interested undergraduate and graduate students. The time commitment is flexible according to student and college needs, from as few as 10 hours per week up to 40 hours per week. The start and end dates are likewise flexible, though we do ask for a 6-week minimum commitment. This position is unpaid. Application deadline is flexible, but we recommend applying by June 15th. Program Associate — VOCAL AmeriCorps Volunteer
Literacy Works’ Program Associate will support the Community Literacy arm of Literacy Works which provides professional development to tutors and teachers, and recruits and refers tutors and adult students. In this position, the Program Associate will gain a big-picture understanding of adult literacy in Chicago. They will gain experience with program management as well as community outreach.
This is a VOCAL AmeriCorps volunteer position. The selected candidate will not earn a traditional salary, but rather a small stipend to cover living expenses. To learn more about the VOCAL AmeriCorps program, visit http://lvillinois.org/vocal_americorps.aspx.
