For Adult Literacy Programs
Is your adult literacy program planning a retreat or tutor in-service? Or, do you just want to build skills and community among your staff and tutors?
Literacy Works offers customized, on-site training options for volunteer tutors, instructors, and staff at Chicago-area adult literacy organizations. Our expertise covers a range of topics, including teaching ESL to adults with very low literacy; strategies for reading instruction; and working with students on expressive writing.
Each 2-hour session includes community-building exercises, promotes reflection, and provides useful resources for those working with adult learners.
We also offer individualized consultation to organizations starting or enhancing an adult literacy program.

For Non-Literacy Organizations

Our customized Literacy Connect training is an interactive, eye-opening professional development opportunity that will help your team develop methods and materials that are literacy-friendly and culturally appropriate.
