MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Literacy Works provides an array of training and networking opportunities to staff and volunteers at Chicago-area literacy programs. Literacy Works offers three levels of membership:

 

REGULAR MEMBERSHIP

 

Multiple staff members & volunteers may attend:

-      12-hour English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor Trainings & Adult Basic Education (ABE) Tutor Trainings. At different locations; every month except Aug. and Dec.

-         Annual Tutor Forum and Tutor Roundtable. Quarterly Supplemental Tutor Trainings. Spanish Language Literacy tutor trainings.

-         Member Network: Literacy leaders' group meetings for training, networking, and sharing best practices among professionals.

-         3 Family Literacy Opportunities (FLO) workshops.

 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ONLY

 

Up to 2 persons may attend each of the following:

        Annual Tutor Forum and Tutor Roundtable. Quarterly Supplemental Tutor Trainings.

-         Member Network: Literacy leaders group meetings for training, networking, and sharing best practices among professionals.

 

FAMILY LITERACY ONLY

 

Multiple staff members & volunteers may attend:

-         3 Family Literacy Opportunities (FLO) - trainings and networking for family literacy staff & parent educators.

-         Fam Lit members also receive priority and discount for OK Learn workshops, on-site training, & consultations.

 

 

All members receive these benefits:

-         Priority registration for Literacy Works' trainings.

-         Your agency website linked on Literacy Works' website.

-         The option to receive literacy-related web resources and announcements via email.

-         Discounted fees for on-site services included customized staff trainings or parent education and writing workshops for adult learners at your site.

 

 

WHICH MEMBERSHIP LEVEL IS RIGHT FOR YOUR AGENCY? 

 

"My adult literacy program depends on volunteer tutors as well as professional staff."

We recommend the Regular Membership so you can send multiple literacy volunteers and staff members to all our trainings year-round.

 

"My program has only one or two tutors," or "My program has no tutors at all."

We recommend the Professional Development Membership so you can send key staff members to select literacy trainings.

 

"My program focuses on children's education and parent engagement - not adult literacy."

We recommend the Family Literacy Membership so you can send can send multiple staff members to our FLO trainings.
