A Writers' Circle author from Armenia describes an early experience she had in the United States:

"One time I took a walk in the forest. Suddenly I saw a miracle tree. My heart beat very fast. I felt my country beat. There were beautiful poplar trees that grew to the sky. I sat and thought I also saw the weeping willow. The forest listened to the leaves rustle and the birds sing, which made my heart fill with memories."

To learn what memories this willow evoked, see the full story in Sincere Recollections, the new book of writings by participants in Literacy Works' Writers' Circle.  Sincere Recollections holds stories and essays by adults who seek to make a new home in the United States and learn English in one of Chicago's most diverse neighborhoods.
